Name Black Box Chess
Type Puzzle
Description Black box chess is a combination chess puzzle and game of deductive logic. Try to guess the secret chess pieces!
Rules Summary The object of Black Box Chess is to guess which chess pieces belong in the squares on the chessboard marked with a '?'.

To help guess, you can click on unmarked board spaces. The number showing after clicking on an empty space is the number of ways that the square is threatened by the opposing pieces. Drag the pieces to the '?' spaces when you think you know what one is. Click the 'Guess' button when you have all pieces placed correctly.

A game of Black Box Chess in action. For this example, I have made four guesses. I need to place the rest of the pieces on the '?' squares before I can find out if I guessed correctly. The knight is probably correctly placed, because that is the only way that the lower-left square can be threatened twice. The queen is probably also placed correctly, because that is the only piece that can threaten both lower corners.
